Shawna is a native of Charlotte, NC, and earned her undergraduate degree at Spelman College, where she first discovered her passion for women's health. She recently graduated from the Gillings School of Global Public Health at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, earning a Master of Public Health degree with a focus on maternal, child, and family health. Since 2020, Shawna has worked as a birth and postpartum doula, serving families in both New York City and North Carolina. Shawna’s doula training includes certification through DONA International for both Birth and Postpartum Doula Training. She received her training through UNC’s LEADoula Program in Chapel Hill, NC. Her mission as a doula is to honor and uplift the sacred experience of birth and parenthood through continuous, compassionate support. Outside of her work, Shawna enjoys spending time with loved ones, exploring new restaurants, and traveling to new destinations.
